It was a day of bright colors and laughter as CFCA staff members spent a morning playing games and visiting with mothers and their children at the Rose Brooks Center in Kansas City, Mo.

The center serves women and children in Kansas City who are affected by domestic violence.

CFCA works in 22 developing countries around the world to bring education, joy and empowerment to families. Staffers were honored to be afforded the opportunity to have a similar impact in their home base of Kansas City through the Rose Brooks event.

The group from CFCA came prepared to entertain, complete with a cupcake-decorating station, face-painting, ladder ball, fishing, an art table and other games.

The activities were part of the annual Rose Brooks Resource Fair, offering school supplies, backpacks, medical checkups and other community resources to those staying at the center. Read more

This month, CFCA and the Rose Brooks Center, a leader in innovative domestic violence programs and support, will announce their Champions for Children partnership.

Through this partnership, the two Kansas City-based organizations will help improve the lives of hundreds of students in the Kansas City area who are struggling to overcome poverty, community violence or family abuse.

As part of the Champions for Children partnership, CFCA will help support the continuation of Rose Brooks Centerís Project SAFE, an innovative, school-based violence prevention and intervention program.

The funds provided by CFCA will ensure that Rose Brooks Center will be able to continue its vital Project SAFE programming in a local Kansas City-area school.

While CFCAís focus is sponsorship of children and elderly in developing countries, the partnership with Rose Brooks is one way CFCA is contributing to and learning from the local community.

By working together, CFCA and Rose Brooks Center have a unique opportunity to raise awareness about the key role that education plays in breaking the cycles of poverty and violence we see in our community and throughout the world.
