How can I sponsor someone who is in the greatest need of help?

Ask sponsor services

Q. I want to sponsor someone who needs help the most. How do you determine who among the children and elderly on your waiting list has the greatest need for sponsorship?

A. Thank you for your question and for taking the first step toward changing someone’s life. Everyone in our program is in great need, which is why they are eligible for sponsorship through Unbound.

When someone asks to sponsor a child or elderly friend in the greatest need of help, we select a friend who has been waiting the longest for a sponsor. This could be someone who has lost their previous sponsor or someone who has never had a sponsor before. If you ask to sponsor a child in the greatest need, we will match you with a boy or girl who has been waiting the longest for a sponsor. The same applies if you want to sponsor an elderly friend.

With that being said, we do have a difficult time finding sponsors for our older students and children or aging friends with special needs. And those with special needs as well as older youth need just as much encouragement and support to help them succeed.

If you’re ready to become a sponsor, or if you’re already a sponsor and are looking to add another sponsorship for your family, call or click today. And please think about sponsoring an older student or a friend with special needs.

You’ll be glad you did. For more information, please email us at or call Sponsor Services at (800) 875-6564, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central time.
