Several sponsored children from around the world provided artwork for CFCA’s 2013 Christmas cards. Meet Nery and Luis from El Salvador, two of our artists.

Nery, 8, from El Salvador is one of 11 artists whose work is featured on our 2013 Christmas cards. She is currently in 2nd grade and is a good student. She dreams of becoming a doctor and a painter when she grows up.

What is your favorite school subject?

I like sciences and Spanish grammar.

What was the inspiration behind your Christmas drawing?

I like angels, Christmas and because it is a girl too.

What do you like most about Christmas?

The family gathering.

What dreams do you have for your future?

My dream is to be a doctor to help people in their health. I also wish to be a painter and learn to paint with watercolor. I wish to paint landscapes. I’m in a competition of drawing landscapes at school. They haven´t announced the winner yet. I drew mountains, a house, trees, sun, maize field and men working the land.

What does being sponsored mean to you?

It helps me to have opportunities and be able to study.

Luis, 16, from El Salvador is another of the artists whose work was selected for the 2013 Christmas cards. He is currently in 8th grade and plays soccer with fellow classmates. Luis dreams of either becoming a construction worker like his father or a lawyer.

What was the inspiration behind your Christmas drawing?

I was thinking about Christmas, which is a nice holiday that we have just once a year.

What are your hobbies?

I play soccer as a forward. I play with my classmates in a field [near my house].

How are you doing in school?

I’m doing well but I want to make an effort to be a better student. I’m making an effort but not always it’s easy.

What are some opportunities that you think you have now?

Thanks to [my sponsors], I’m able to receive education and recreation. For me that’s important because it helps me learn how to socialize with people.

  1. The CFCA Christmas cards are lovely! We received our order a few days ago. The cards and envelopes are high quality stock and the art is beautifully reproduced.

Thank you to all who made this possible!
