When is the best time to send my sponsored friend a Christmas greeting?

Ask Sponsor Services

Q: When should I send my sponsored friend a Christmas greeting?

A: Typically, letters sent by regular mail can take six to eight weeks to reach your sponsored friend.

During the holidays, it can take even longer.

We always suggest our sponsors send Christmas greetings and gifts by mid-October if they want them to reach their sponsored friends in time for Christmas.

(Editor’s note: See our blog post, “18 small gift ideas to send to your sponsored friend,” for guidelines on what to send.)

It’s also important to remember that CFCA offices in other countries close the week of Christmas, and most of the projects use post office boxes to receive mail, so it is not possible to send items using overnight or expedited mail.

Running out of time?

Use the eLetter option to send a Christmas greeting to your sponsored friend.

Log in in to your “myCFCA” account online, select a template and write your greeting.

It’s that simple!

Now you can even include a photo from your computer or mobile device.

Because eLetters must still be printed, translated and hand delivered, it will take a few weeks for your letter to reach your sponsored friend.
