By Michelle Wertz, CFCA volunteer outreach team coordinator
National Volunteer Week is April 21-27, and CFCA proudly recognizes the service of our dedicated volunteers. They are a vital link in our efforts to connect people in the United States with children and elderly in need around the world.
As a member of the volunteer outreach team at CFCA’s Kansas City headquarters, I talk to volunteers from all over the country, and they inspire me every day. Even though we may not ever get the chance to meet face to face, I can feel their enthusiasm and the impact they make around the world.
There are many ways to get involved as a volunteer with CFCA.
If you would like to help find sponsors for children on our waiting list, our team is happy to provide you with a child’s photo and profile to share with your family and friends, or set you up to help at a CFCA event in your area. Click here to check if an event is coming to your area.
Over the past year, our volunteers have found sponsors for more than 1,583 children, youth and aging persons, who now have hope for a brighter future!
Do you have your own ideas for sharing CFCA with others?
One volunteer I spoke with hosted a cocktail party for friends to learn about sponsorship.
Another climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise funds for CFCA.
Still another volunteer raised funds by hosting a cultural “Taste of the World” evening with foods from regions across the globe and a live auction.
We would love to hear your ideas for sharing CFCA and invite you to join our efforts as we celebrate National Volunteer Week! Leave us a comment below, or contact us at (800) 875-6564 or email@example.com.
Editor’s note: Tomorrow our blog will feature the contributions of our Kansas City headquarters volunteers, who each year process more than a million letters from children and aging friends to their sponsors.
