Bob’s notes from Honduras: ‘Welcome to my world’

“Bob’s notes” are reports from CFCA President Bob Hentzen, who regularly accompanies mission awareness trip participants. You can see Bob’s full update on his Facebook page.

It’s a joy to send you this message of solidarity and love from our CFCA sponsored friends and their families in Honduras.

Since its humble beginning in 1982, CFCA-Honduras has grown to include 16,088 children and 1,698 aging friends; all in four projects and 60 subprojects.†Currently, 1,955 individuals are on our waiting list in Honduras.

You can imagine how I feel meeting many of the same families who participated in Walk2gether, CFCAís 8,000 mile solidarity walk through 12 countries.

I am finding the people here are still very much in the strong community spirit of Walk2gether. Everywhere we traveled during the walk, a number of sponsored friends and their families gathered to celebrate the CFCA community.

I’m hearing quite a few original songs about Walk2gether and about the current programs of CFCA. With a strong vocal tradition, songs and poetry can be a great learning tool.

The sponsored friends and their families respond to the basic truths of CFCA.

In the cities and mountain villages of Honduras, CFCA’s impact can be measured by hope and motivation.

“You will be changed as never before.” ó Father Tony Lee, CFCA sponsor

“You are my sunshine.” ó CFCA sponsors

“Gracias, CFCA, for unconditional love.” ó Mother of a CFCA sponsored child

Final note:
Cristina and I will be attending the national CFCA staff formation encuentro (gathering) in Cali, Colombia, and from there, we will travel directly to the mission awareness trip in Bolivia. Please know of our love and prayers.
