CFCA support has made Philomena’s life more comfortable. She has 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Philomena lives with one of her grandchildren.

What is your secret for a long life?

Whatever they cook, I eat without any fuss. This is the secret of my long life

What advice do you have for young people?

I advise them to be nice, look after parents and be obedient to one another. I also taught my children the same.

What is the most important thing your mother taught you?

My mother taught me how to do the housework. The most important thing she taught me is to remain true to my partner until death and to be a good housewife.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go and why?

I like to visit Bombay (Mumbai). My sister stays there in Bombay. We are twins.

Tell us something special or unique about yourself.

My mother is a good dancer. I learned dance from her. When I was young, I used to dance at home.

What’s one thing that has changed from when you were young to the present day?

When I was young my mother admitted me to one of the boarding schools in Bombay.

After my father died, I came back home to the Hyderabad state. Because of poverty, I could not continue my studies, and to help my mother, I started working in homes.

What’s one thing that has remained the same?

Immediately after my husband died, my in-laws separated me from my children. My last son was a small child at that time.

As I was quite young, I didn’t know much how to handle the issue and worried a lot. Then with the help of a lawyer, my mother sent a notice to my in-laws and helped me in getting my children back.

What’s your favorite food?

Bagara rice and chicken fry.

What do you like most about CFCA?

I like the way the CFCA takes care of the aged.

  1. I enjoy your interviews with the sponsored elderly! My kids loved the video of Juan Antonio and we pray for him and his family every night, along with the 2 children and 1 elderly woman we sponsor. Keep up the good work! I hope to someday meet those we sponsor, but if it doesn’t happen on earth, I hope and pray we will meet in Heaven.
