CFCA in the blogosphere

CFCA blogPaula Kiger, a CFCA sponsor, and her daughter Tenley traveled recently to Guatemala on a mission awareness trip. We’re so excited to share her blog post about the trip with you!

Here’s an excerpt …

It also meant so much to look our sponsored child, Silvia, in the eye. So much more than a picture on an end table. And for Tenley to choose to sponsor a child (Estela). Being able to talk with these children and their families, even though it took the help of translators and there were plenty of language barriers (Estela speaks Kiche, a Mayan dialect), was an experience that transcended something … their mothers were so very grateful to be our partners in providing more for their children,†especially†an education. I said it in Guatemala and I believe it’s true — all mothers the world over want the same thing for their children – health, happiness, education, safety.

  1. Thank you for sharing my and Tenley’s story with the CFCA blog readers! I know I had a lot of questions prior to my Mission Awareness Trip, and I hope this blog helps someone considering a MAT to feel they have a better sense of what to expect. Another valued component of the trip was my fellow travelers — since it was summertime we had a lot of families traveling together, which meant an opportunity for our children to get to know one another as we traveled from place to place and shared time in the evenings. We made some bonds that are likely to remain in place for a very long time.
