An Unbound dream for everyone’s future

Operation Breakthrough

A young girl at Operation Breakthrough shares her dreams with us.

Each year, Americans across the country come together on the MLK Day of Service to help their neighbors and communities. Here at Unbound, we are no strangers to helping others — abroad and in our own community.

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?’” — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Today marks the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, as well as the MLK Day of Service. The day calls for Americans to come together and find solutions to our nation’s problems. It’s been called a day on — not a day off, and it starts in your own community.

At Unbound, we know the importance of helping people help themselves and their communities. We work in 21 countries and support efforts to help children within our own community.

In 2013, we began partnering with Operation Breakthrough, a child care center in the inner-city of Kansas City. Operation Breakthrough offers a place for children to learn and play in a safe environment.

One-fourth of the children who arrive at Operation Breakthrough each day are homeless. The sounds of gun shots and sirens are part of their everyday lives.

Through our partnership and a grant provided by Unbound, we help the children in the “Green classroom” with funding for early education and help social workers provide one-on-one guidance for parents with housing, employment and other issues.

We are proud to serve Operation Breakthrough as well as the children, youth and elderly in our programs around the world.
