~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~

Every Thursday the Like Mother, Like Daughter blog invites bloggers to post four pictures – pretty, happy, funny and real – and give a little context for each picture.

So here’s {phfr} in India at the CFCA blog:

Kumbh Mela temple in India.

This Hindu Temple was built specifically for Kumbh Mela, one of the largest spiritual gatherings on Earth.

The temple provides pilgrims with a place to offer prayers after taking a bath in the sacred river.

Kumbh Mela comes to Allahabad, home to 617 children and families in the CFCA program, every 12 years.

It is a time for Hindu pilgrims across the country and world to gather to take a dip where the Ganges and Yamuna rivers meet. Bathing in the waters during the festival is believed to bring Hindus holiness and salvation.

For sponsored children and their families taking part, the celebration takes much planning and preparation.

For many sponsored children, a CFCA birthday celebration may be the only time they receive a gift and party in their honor.

Birthday celebrations are supported through the CFCA Birthday Fund. Donations are divided equally for the benefit of all sponsored friends, so everyone has the chance to celebrate their birthday and feel special.

Sponsored friends enjoy themselves at a birthday party with friends and family as well as gifts and refreshments.
