The CFCA project in Legazpi, Philippines, recently sent us success stories from young adults who were sponsored through CFCA.
Here’s one from Rochelle, who just graduated with a degree in venture entrepreneurship. Congratulations, Rochelle!
When I was 9 years old, I was a grade two student who was shy and afraid to mingle with others.
That was 13 years ago, before I was luckily chosen to become a member of CFCA.
My family and I were given an opportunity to change our life and to hope for a better future.
It is still fresh in my mind the first time I celebrated my birthday as a CFCA sponsored friend.
The birthday celebration was held at the CFCA office together with my family.
We were so happy because we had lots of foods and surprises prepared for us.
Fortunately, I experienced lots of activities through CFCA.
I experienced being with the CFCA family when we had our awareness trip, Christmas party and other activities.
Through the CFCA summer camp and sports fest, I discovered my skills, knowledge and capabilities in sports. It also helped me develop new friendships and enhanced my self-esteem.
During my high school life, I received more privileges, opportunities and benefits through sponsorship.
Before my classes started, I always received school supplies, school shoes and a new school uniform.
My sponsorship also paid for my school fees, which helped ease the financial burden for my parents.
I went to annual medical and dental check-ups, which made me more conscious of my health.
I also received new shoes and a Sunday dress every year, which helped me to become more confident and gave me the inspiration to get better grades.
Hence, I always belonged to the achievers’ lists. Sponsored friends who achieve high grades are given an achiever’s treat by CFCA.
We would go swimming or do other activities, and I really enjoyed it a lot.
As I entered college life, my sponsorship provided assistance with my monthly school fees.
CFCA gave me another opportunity to become one of the CFCA scholars. It is a great chance not only for me but also for my parents.
The scholarship program helps because it assists my parents in sustaining my needs in school.
In return, I rendered my time to the office through assisting other sponsored friends in writing letters, making cards, distributing supplies and helping the staff with office work and other needs.
I consider CFCA as my second family, which gives me unending support and strength to have a positive outlook in life, so I can reach my goals.
I can say that I’m blessed because of CFCA and my family who are always there to guide and support me.
I just graduated with a degree in venture entrepreneurship. I was so excited and happy during our graduation rites.
Because of CFCA and my family, this was all possible. My family and my CFCA family are really proud of me.
The things I experienced and received from CFCA gave me enough strength and enlightenment to reach this kind of great success.
My graduation is not the end of my journey, but rather the beginning of another stage of my life.
Thank you, CFCA!
